This is a pleasant surprise. Entertaining thriller set in Singapore/Malaysia. The main character is a television producer who helms a weekly crime reporting programme. The mysterious ways the victims died is the start of a dangerous adventure for her and her friends. She does not know that she herself is connected to the deaths in a round about way. What impressed me was the author's diligence in his research while writing the story. The scenes were set in present day Singapore, 2004, as well as during the Second World War. There is an intelligent and lively dialogue throughout with references to current pop culture - films, eating places, trends - as well as the history of Singapore. A refreshing read.
